Blast from the Recent Past
Alto saxophonist Lanny Morgan was one of the three inductees into The California Alliance for Jazz HALL OF FAME for 2013, side by side with bassist Marshall Raymond Hawkins and clarinetist Richard Robinette.
The Jazz Hall of Fame was established in 2008 by the organization (www.cajazz.org) to recognize jazz artists who have made significant contributions to jazz education during, and in addition to, stellar professional careers.
Morgan’s educational credentials have spanned staff or guest spots from early years at the Bud Shank Workshop, Dick Grove School of Music and Stanford Jazz Workshop, and 20 years as a Masters Class instructor at Idyllwild Jazz Camp. He has made appearances and presented clinics at more than 100 colleges and high schools from coast to coast.
